White Fang grows up!

INTRODUCING "our new puppy"!
One day, one of my students said her aunt and uncle had a puppy that they just couldn't keep, and she said they needed to find him a home.  I offered to give the little furball a loving home, and I made the promise that I would keep her up-to-date on "our boy."  White Fang is the sandy-colored dog, and he loves playing with my other dogs:  Dewey the White Lab, Tommy Lee the Min-Pin, Baby the Boxer, and Chili Bean our lovable Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix (yes, I know, what a strange pairing she came from).  Watch my boy grow here!

Dewey, our White Lab, would frequently escape his kennel and chase cars, and he'd take Fang with him, so we had to rehome Dewey (after continual kennel-mending and repairs, all to no avail).  He currently lives with a co-worker who has provided him an excellent home where he has more room to roam.

Tommy Lee has moved in with granma, since he is not "kid-friendly" and became jealous of our new baby.

Sadly, Baby the Boxer passed away earlier this year.  She moved in with me about December of 1998, or 1999, and lived a long happy life.  She loved to ride in the front seat (passenger side) and stick her head out the window, with her tongue flapping in the wind. We'd take long walks along "the floodwall" at the city park, and she'd come in, in the winter months, and keep watch over the house.  We miss her a lot, and she was my best friend for the longest time.  I adopted Baby from my local Humane Society.  If you ever wish to "get a dog"  - please stop in at your local Humane Society first.  Your next best friend might just be waiting on you.

We also lost our little "Chili Bean" October 2006, and she was a very special girl who came to us when I rescued a sugar glider from the Dayton, Ohio area.  Beanie was a mix: part Jack Russell Terrier and part Chihuahua.  We didn't have her for too long when we discovered that she had epilepsy.  Then, we understood why the owners were so happy to place her with us, when we were only to rescue a glider.  Beanie would seize, foam at the mouth, and her little eyes would roll back in her head, and she'd throw herself across the floor.  We took her to a vet, whose recommendation was to "put her down", but we found another vet, and we gave her Phenyl-Barbitol to help her.  She lived a very full life, even as short as it was, and she was "the boss" of the other dogs, until the day she left us.  Her full story can be found on my blog, here.

Anyway, back to Fang (since this is his page).  He came up missing last week, and we were worried out of our minds. He is our boy, and he is a "back porch dog", who never leaves the back yard.  We searched everywhere, neighbors, local businesses, and we drove up and down the back country roads calling out his name (he always, upon always, comes to me when I call him).  We finally got "the scoop" on his whereabouts from 4-F Pizzeria owner, "Andy".  He had explained there was a White Lab in my yard the other day, and we figured that Fang was missing his buddy, Dewey, also a White Lab, and they took off on an adventure together.  Thankfully, this  morning, Fang came home.  The adventure is over, and he was quite content to be back home with his family, and "his kid."
